In our society, morality is a collective decision transformed into law through the political process.

Wrong. What you describe are societal values. Morality is a constant.

"What any individual chooses to do is up to them."

In a limited sense, that's true but the consequences of what they do is not, and simply choosing an action does not make it right. Might does not make right and majority rule does not determine morality. Of course many of your fellow atheists have taken precisely that position and then promptly committed the most horrific atrocities in the history of human kind. When they get caught they invariably say: "who are you to judge?". Then you have the temerity to accuse others of hypocrisy and lack of compassion? That's rich!

"I want no part of any system that dictates to women what their choices are;"

So according to you: if a woman kills her children because she has trouble finding a baby sitter that would be totally up to her? If not who are you to impose your (watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat) atheism on her?

I notice you just chose to make your own moral pronouncements (accompanied of course by the usual atheistic denouncements of those evil "believers") instead of dealing with the moral argument against abortion. I can't say I'm surprised.

Here it is anyway:

1. It's morally wrong to take an innocent Human life.

2. Abortion takes an innocent Human life.

3. Abortion is morally wrong.

Jim...
Rare but on morality is a collective decision I disagree with you. My morality is not determined by anyone but ME... and I believe this is how it should be. If that 'morality' is harmful to others (Bernardo for example) then let the collective morality intersections of morality rule. To have a society ... there is a cost where the public good must prevail... the interpretation of that good though is the hard part..

On Abortion.. one second from birth.. alive or not ? Well in Canada NOT... Right or Wrong ? I say wrong.. but where can we draw the line..

EDIT: BTW I'm short TSX as of yesterday via 2K HXD.. (not huge) but I need to go out now... Should I stay or should I go ... HXD wise.. :O)
