Oh!

Well then... that WOULD HAVE BEEN ABSOLUTELY CORRECT if no one did anything, if no one changed anything.

(I mean, that's the way the Bush tax changes were written into law: they were always SCHEDULED TO EXPIRE at midnight, December 31st. 2010. He only passed TEMPORARY tax cuts.)

But President Obama just proposed in his new budget to EXTEND all of the Bush tax cuts (on income tax, and on capital gains) except for individuals with annual declared income greater then $200,000, or joint returns greater then $250,000 per year.

So, if you and your wife make less then a quarter million dollars a year then President Obama wants to make the tax cuts for you permanent (and there are several other tax cuts he's pushing through that will benefit the middle class tax payer in addition....)
