I think it was an excellent plan that could have provided a bridging solution. We are the Saudi Arabia of natural gas. It's a great solution for helping us get to oil independence. Can you imagine 100 million cars in the US that are hybrid NG/electrics? We could cut our oil usage by half (10 mbpd) by going that route. Then if we also drill baby drill everywhere, that would provide an increase in potentially another 5 mbpd domestic supply. We use 20 mbpd and import 15, so cutting that consumption by half and increasing domestic supply by 5, means we'd be oil independent.

In short, going whole hog on the Pickens plan could have gotten us to oil independence....and we could have done it for less than the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now do you see why I am so bitter? We are a very stupid country. We're so rich in everything and it has made us lazy, stupid, and wasteful. We have everything we need to solve our own problems. We just need to come together as a people around this common goal and then get to work solving it. Instead, we bicker and fight over idiotic things and accomplish nothing.
