Good idea: <US President Barack Obama's 2011 NASA budget request will effectively terminate the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's manned space flight program. > Firing primates into space is ridiculous. Space is suitable for robots, computers, cyberspace, electro-photonic processing, not wet chemistry bio-brains. Humans boil in space and the gamma rays are annoying too. Not to mention any particulate impacts. Plus getting back down is really hot and dangerous. Launching isn't risk-free either. Also, on long journeys, people get really tired, lonely and old, even dying of old age if heading off to a neighbouring star. And imagine arriving at the next star and finding nothing but places like Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Neptune and Mercury - not a Bali or Hawaii in sight. Iran isn't pushing any barriers or achieving anything in space, they are just trying to figure out how to launch atomic bombs at Israel. <while Iran is pushing barriers and making achievements in the space industry > If Iran wants to achieve something, they could do like Globalstar and hire a launch system to fire stuff into orbit. Globalstar will be launching satellites in another few months, rebuilding the constellation which is defunct [for voice]. The reason Iran wants their own launch system is because they can't tell the Globalstar rocket builders "Please launch this satellite over there, towards Tel Aviv".
