The Dems need 60 to get anything done because the GOP uses filibusters at the drop of a hat. The GOP got alot done during their control of Congress because the Dems were too intimidated to use the filibuster and the GOP didn't give two shits about bipartisanship. The GOP got done what they wanted to get done. The only thing the Dems had balls to try to stop was Social Security reform. It was the one thing that Bush Jr tried to do that I was fully supportive of, but that would have required 60 votes for sure.
