re:: >>Anti-militarism is very much an American tradition, but it has never been a majority position. <<<

UNFORTUNATELY VERY TRUE..

re: >> The old chestnut that liberals have always stood for peace and conservatives for war is historically false.<<

AGAIN, UNFORTUNATELY VERY TRUE.. I see it in real life and on on SI..

re: >> Far from being a consensus-seeking peacenik, Obama would not even sign the Landmine Ban Treaty, which Bush also refused to endorse, thus leaving the U.S. the only NATO nation unwilling to participate. <<

He doesn't give a sheet.. "SELFISH is as SELFISH does", to paraphrase..

re:: >>The sad truth is everything we are seeing we have already seen. Despite presidents who come and go, permanent war is a hallowed American institution <<

AGAIN AND AGAIN,UNFORTUNATELY VERY TRUE..

Just a few examples from your article..:(

Obama is even worse than Bush because he is a more effective salesman for essentially the same policies of permanent war and empire building

Note he wants to freeze domestic spending but continues to escalate the war budget at a frantic pace.

Better the enemy you know than a "friend" who stabs you in the back.

Hi scott,

Here is the way THIS lib/progressive wants to wage war.. It SHOULD be waged, like it could be now, every four years, or two as the Summer and Winter Olympics are staggered...

Put the best mentally and physically go up against each other, head to head.. Rather than the way we do it now, where the SOFT and GREEDY and MANIPULATIVE ONES send the STUPID and IGNORTIVE off to do their DIRTY work..:(

That's just not MORALLY right..

IT's just not right to work someone for one's OWN gain..

For if they DO, they will PAY BIG TIME in the long run or even the short term..

Send Bush up against Putin or Obama against whatever windmills he wants to tilt to keep the war machine going..:(

BTW, we have so much enjoyed the Winter O I will really missed it when it is over.. Talk about putting everything on the line, leaving no gas in the tank at the finish or Finnish line, it's amazing, It's just f'ng Amazing.. Did you happen to see that beautiful cross country Swedish woman that had to be carried off after she finished...

Shit, I can't come close to describing something like this.. And I BET, NOBODY, NO F'NG NOBODY, knows the way that woman felt..

FOR one can't FEEL this EVER, sitting on their ASS, putting EVERTHING into SOMETHING they can NEVER understand..

BTW, on a lighter note, my favorite Winter Olympic sport is NUDE womens curling..

And my favorite team is MY ancestors, of course... :)

For these ARE MY people.. :)
