A bit of irony for ya.

Now that CIC is into gold ETFs, it is co-owner with Paulson & Co., a huge owner of Au ETFs, who yesterday announced that Alan Greenspan had been hired as an advisor.

Strange bedfellows or what?

I find the CIC entry into USO pretty much a non-event because the position is so small, and CIC can target its investments on individual properties a lot more precisely. Gold is gold, so how it is bought doesn't matter much unless one is a physical vs. paper fanatic. I don't mind owning paper gold, and CIC has in a way put the good housekeeping seal of approval on it.

Gold should get a boost from the CIC position, but I don't yet see it. Too soon, perhaps. Gold is cheap.
