Next January, Ms Pelosi will be seated in her usual place behind President Obama as he delivers his State of the Union speech. Democrats will still be the majority party in the US Senate.

First, let me say to all farmers, past farmers, or current farmers on this message board-----it is not my intent to criticize you personally.

Yes, I am an environmentalist------see this article about Obama's recent attempt to placate some of his supporters-----I grew up in 'farming country' when farmers were not paid to not-farm.

Then suddenly the government started paying them not to farm---not to plant corn. For decades these folks have been paid not to farm by the Federal Government.

Now those farms have been turned into housing developments and some of the beautiful farm land into trailer parks. What was beautiful productive farmland is now non existent.

Thus, now the Federal Government via Obama's appointed Czar is telling us we must use corn as a source for enthanol to fuel cars.

I place his opinion in the same category as global warming----false science-----just another power grab that will ultimately regulate the use of our remaining lands.

Okay now lets get to the envionmentalist in me------yes corn is a marvelous food crop. Now, envision fields upon fields of corn that throw off the pollen when the corn ears start forming and enter the air, much as the yellow pollen of pine trees.

Then envision the black crud (mold) that attaches itself to the ears of corn depending on the weather.

As the air becomes polluted with massive corn growth to produce a "smidgin of energy" as an environmentalist, I find Mr. Obama's opinion nothing more than a political sop to placate some.

When the corn crops fail----------what will Mr. Obama do-----of course pay the current farmers (big farmers) for their failed crops as recommended by his Czar or lets say Czarina.

If there is any lesson to be learned in the saga of what has happened to our farms is the saga of Federal Government attempt to control farming in this nation.
