Ah, we cut trees in this state. They are constantly trimming around our power lines.

What possible reason could there be for not cutting trees that are quite obviously at some point going to cause a power outage? Insanity.

I bought a generator in 1998 when my youngest was born. Of course, after I bought the generator, I didn't need it. Power never went out again in winter storms, due to aggressive tree trimming that went into place that year. Prior to that, we'd lost power 2-3 times each winter when large fir trees took out power lines. Still have the generator and used it 2 years ago when we had a wind storm with hurricane force winds that took out power for 4 days.
