Re: "Our $70 trillion in debt is everything about socialism" Well... Medicare and Social Security do meet most anyone's definition (as social transfer programs) for "Socialism". So do fire and police services for that matter. (And all four of these are routinely extremely popular with the public....) But, technically still entirely accurately, ANY SPENDING (for social programs, for wars, for corporate welfare transfer payments, whatever) that necessitates BORROWING because it is not covered by current revenue, adds directly to the national debt.
