MM= Market Maker buys and sells the issue to we fine investors. Must buy there stock
at the bid to sell it to us at the ask, so they make some of the spread for there
profit.

Priscilla,

Rather than try, probably inadequetly, to give you a definition of MM's I would suggest you go to the MM thread right here on SI.

There are two threads at the same location.

In the search box just type in "market makers" not MM and it will take you to the thread. It is an excellent thread on this topic with some real insight to the role, both positive and negative, of the MM.
