I spoke for 23 minutes this morning with John Sinnott, QCOM Investor Relations. He was fairly non-committal on what to do with the $18.9 billion cash horde, but did say they were "looking at" issues such as a stock buy back with the remaining $1.7 billion authorized previously, as well as a dividend increase.

He emphasized that some $10 billion held overseas was not going to be repatriated because of tax issues. I pointed out that repatriating some of it when the current tax rate is estimated at 21% might be preferable to holding it overseas, but he indicated no company interest in that strategy.

He indicated he was aware of shareholder concerns as expressed in places like siliconinvestor.com.
