Why do old bald guys feel the need to pony tail the last wisps of youth ?

Maybe the same reason young guys cut off great tresses and walk around like bowling balls?

TBS: Why do women change their hair styles or colour?

More apropos, why do investors / traders change their styles as they get older?
Could it be that a "short cut" needs a lot of attention while "letting it grow" with the odd trim is much less time consuming and less profitable for the one who offers the haircut?
