If the government is going to take and redistribute, it makes some sense for even opponents of the whole process to try to get some of their money back. If not asking for the money would prevent the whole process it would be another story, but if you refuse to accept anything back then the redistribution will in effect be funded off of you and people like you.

If its impossible to stop the process, and trying to get a piece doesn't make the pie any bigger, than asking for your piece doesn't do real harm to the principle involved. OTOH if it does make the amount of redistribution significantly larger than Bond and people like him are harming the principle they supposedly espouse.
