Just finished reading "The Mission, the Men, and Me," by the Delta Force commander who was in charge at "Operation Anaconda" where we pulled out a victory after a lot of bad decisions.

What makes my blood boil is that the Seal Admiral in Florida at CENTCOM was the major problem, as I suspected. He forced the insertion of Seals into the middle of the operation. Had to have "his boys" get some battle time. The local General was out of the Air Force. His CO in North Carolina was an Army Chopper pilot. All in the name of "Jointness."

The chopper shootdowns that cost the lives of Seals and Rangers on the ground were made by these people from afar, in the "real time" that is now available to CO's. It's an extension of the old Vietnam days, when a CO in a chopper overhead would try to direct a battle on the ground.

Still going on today.
