I never studied Hegel and it is a large hole in my knowledge.

I sensed a paradgm shift years ago, but based on 1), the democratization (and education) of the world and 2) logic i.e. the US is 4% of the population consuming 25% of the goods and services; by controlling the world commerce and exploiting 3rd world economies.

The US world domination is ending now with the economic growth of the bric nations and asian tigers. And the US could not be in a worse economic situation, just as it needed to be in the best economic situation i.e. not owing so much money and relying on antiquated ideas.

We would be in much better shape if three things had happened as recently as 2,000:

1) continued Clintons tax policies and not added trillions to the deficit with tax cuts to the rich; 2) not started two wars we did not need to fight and cost trillions and 3) engaged in normal regulations and not gotten rid of Glass Steagal.

IMO.

>>1995: Ambassador of Brazil to Indonesia surprised me: The Hegelian nation-state is dead!

Did they know something that I did not?
I had already thought about the nation-state being transformed. But here was a man whose function was to represent the nation-state stating that it was dead!!

I started paying attention. Yes, the Brazilians that change the game mid 90s had already sensed the winds turning but had never stated that to the populace. Perhaps because the Brazilian nation-state was not successful as the other nation-states they could sense and change to fit the new environment.

I am still with my ear to the ground.

Perhaps those Tea party guys are already part of the camp who sensed the nation-state crumbling
