It might be a handy excuse for not understanding women, but my hearing profile is like a hockey stick, pardon the expression, with the handle high and the blade low. It's good in the lower pitches, even better than other people's I think. For example, I can hear a vehicle going down a road when I'm in the woods and other people can't hear it. But when I guess at what women say, for example at a checkout register, sometimes I interpret wrong. If my wife is there she corrects me. I can't hear the end beep on the microwave unless I'm in the kitchen. She can hear it from the basement.
