Moreover, President Barack Obama also added that the presidential budget commission should weigh in the different options for reducing the budget deficit. While giving the interview to a leading business magazine on February 9, President Barack Obama emphasized that the top priority is to make sure that all the ideas for decreasing the fiscal deficits have been taken into consideration. Apart from tax increases, reducing the spending on other government programs such as Medicare and Social Security should also be taken into account. This has led the United States President to be completely ‘agnostic’ about the probable solutions. At the same time, in the interview excepts that have been available President Barack Obama also adds that setting certain prerequisites on the soon to be established bipartisan advisory commission would only result in dejecting its entire purpose. While highlighting the hurdles faced by the economy, President Barack Obama implied that the real problem was the disparity that existed between the amount of money coming in and the amount that was being spent. Many budget experts had criticized President Barack Obama’s stand then saying that if the majority of Americans are exempted from tax increases then it would not be possible to rein in the budget deficit.
