I like your idea and also think reporting such "industry set" numbers could only help the cause. As far as prices go, they already report enough info for any monkey to figure out their average chipset costs and the really important parts of their pricing models is well hidden in the diversity of their chipset offerings.

You should send you suggestion their way as they have always shown signs of being reticent towards good idears. Then again, IR has already acknowledged that they read here so maybe it would only be added fodder.

ps Reporting devices along those lines would also accent the reality of the growth they've being pushing for the last few years. On that front, their operator data ARPU story which is slowly being commoditized has got long in its tooth. New takes and updated perspectives are always good.
