I have no problem with immigration either. But we should be selective of those willing to build the dream not just rip us off and go home. Either everyone should be allowed dual citizenship if they choose or no one. The idea you can just high tail it back to your country of origin should be more difficult.

Al, people immigrate here because of the American Dream. Many of them actually achieve it.

Ted and other liberals think that dream is a myth. Most immigrants and children of immigrants I know are living proof that the dream is alive and well.


It's relative...when my family emigrated, there was a clear difference in standard of living and opportunity here in the US. Now that difference has been significantly closed, so from the traditional european countries emigration is down. If on the other hand you live in one of the many less developed nations, emigration is attractive. It's pretty clinical and driven by economics. I don't make much of the topic either way in ideological terms.

"Give me your tired, your poor"

Well, considering all the emotion surrounding latino immigration, I'd say that concept has lost some luster.
