That's where they most clearly messed up (or didn't even try in the first place), and where they most clearly go against their professed principles. I disagree with much of the Republican party, and esp. most of its senior politicians on other issues, but if I also disagree with the Democrats on the same issue, than I don't see why I should aim my criticism specifically at Republicans, rather than at "politicians", or "Washington", or "the government". If I do so without singling out Democrats it most likely includes Republicans. "Bush has done a lousy job of controlling spending." This is a criticism of Rs? Well of one Republican at least. And also he had a Republican congress for most of his time in office, and they didn't control spending either. "Reckless spending increases under both Bush and Obama have resulted in unprecedented deficits." Softening the blow by including Obama? No. Its not any softer, because Obama is also hit. And it would have been unreasonable not to include Obama as he was and is president, and was and is spending money like crazy. He's following Bush's path in the area where Bush's record is most problematic. "Unfortunately it is undermined by lack of restraint on spending." Again, a mild rebuke. Not that mild. I consider a lack of restraint on spending to be fairly serious, considering how much the federal government already spends/spent. But what about... I'm only going to criticize him when I have a strong and clear disagreement with him, and where his impact was large. As for the tax cuts, ok, I'll add some more criticism. He shouldn't have had them go through with an expiration date. Also he should have simplified/reformed taxes while cutting them.
