Bob, Yes, the October time frame was almost a carbon copy of the January time frame. When the September quarter closed, there were 3 hard weeks of selling during the 1st part of October this past year. A good place to look at the action is

After looking at that post, an updated weekly chart for the SOX is shown below - a completed cycle of selloff and recovery for the Sep and Dec quarters as documented by the SOX. This is about as close to a carbon copy as you can get. The old adage holds true - "Buy the rumor, sell the news".
