Because we liberals instituted the socialist programs when we had power, like the huge government Permanent fund with 40 billion in it. That fund is all owned by the state government. Right wingers hated the idea of goveernment getting its hands on the money. Give it to the people now they yelled at the time. We libs said no we are going to save it for the kids-lol! And we had a disporportionate amount of liberal governors who held the social programs together, but just as you would not get rid of medicare or social security, so Alaskas are used to the social programs we libs set up ----now-lol. YOu right wingrs also did not like social security or medicare, but now you love it. See a trend-lol? We libs put the programs together fighting you right wingers and then two decades later you like them. Palin brags about our permanent fund, forgetting her party fought against it tooth and nail. >>Koan, you have it completely backwards. Alaska is "capitalist" and California is "socialist."
