Thanks Dabum3, that's very helpful information and insights.

I own a few shares in a company called National CineMedia (NCMI) which has a dividend yield of 4.1%. They've only been paying dividends for about 2 1/2 years. I looked up the payout ratio and Yahoo says 164%. Yikes. How does that compute? Is it an anomaly?
