Issing says "Last Chance For Greece"
globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com

The spotlight continues to shine on Greece, yet the picture remains shrouded in fog with former ECB chief economist preaching “This is a big chance - probably the last for Greece".

I have two answers for your statements:

[1] It is true that some unions have shameful and wasteful practices. Absolutely.

[2] I've also seen 10 times as much waste (in dollar value) by management. I've seen managers hanging around their offices, drinking coffee and playing games on the computer, attending an endless series of meetings and sending a continuous stream of emails, all of which is simply artful cover for the fact that they are doing nothing. Just like their union subordinates, they're simply wasting money - but they're doing it at many times the price.

And the tragic consequences of their Peter Principle mistakes cost many times again that of union failures.

We now live in a society of entitlement; the virtues of excellence and hard work are practiced by few.

I don't deny for a minute the truth of what you say. I've been on both sides of the picket line and believe me, you don't get to see where the real waste is happening.

Nor do you get to see the management decisions that cause dedicated people to become frustrated and ineffective workers.

Yes, it's shocking. I've seen it too. Management and union, public-sector and private.
