I wouldn't like it if QCOM shareholders are buying back shares . . . when insiders are unloading their stock option acquisitions.

Neither would I. One answer, of course, is that the company should not be so forthcoming with options deals for its management.

Options have lost their true purpose, which is to give management and employees an incentive to excel. Options in the truest sense should be used as an alternative to salary by deferring taxes on the incentive or by actually lowering taxes by turning what would ordinarily be salary into capital gains with a preferential tax rate.

And if individuals do not excel, they do not deserve options, or they do not deserve to make money on their options.
