Will aapl have a compelling new iPhone line up this year to keep the ones who's 2 year contract is up from jumping ship?

I'm one of those coming up on the 2 year anniversary of Life in 3G. While I can't say that I will upgrade right away, I can say with some certainty that I won't be jumping ship to Android and certainly not to Nokia. There is simply still nothing out there that runs as well as the 2 year old iPhone offering - and believe me, I'm quite disappointed in that fact!

The question for me, which I can't answer until it ships, is just how much of my iPhone activity will move to the iPad. I could certainly see downgrading my all-you-can-eat phone plan as usage shifts over.

< So you think aapl will go to $400 this year?

If you want to dismiss M$, thats up to you and at your own peril. >

I do not think Apple will go to $400 this year. I predict, in the absence of a world crisis that brings all the markets down, Apple will go over $260 this year. By the end of the year, I predict forward earnings estimates will be ~ $15 a share plus or minus a buck or so. Apply a very reasonable 20 P/E multiple and see what you get.

I am not dismissing MSFT, but they have a hard road in front of them and showing a development project in Spain does not do much to improve their mobile device situation - in fact, it could reasonably bring on some Osborne effect on Win 6.5. They lost a ton of mobile market share last year, and they will lose more in 2010, I think.

Apple, OTOH, has a multi-pronged mobile device strategy and is experiencing market share growth. It is also experiencing good revenue and earnings growth and has an ecosystem that contributes to that growth.

I know which scenario attracts me as an investor.

M$ reacted nicely to put Vista behind them with the successful W7. M$ can recover in the mobile segment if it gets WMobile 7 done properly. The signs are encouraging.

Sure, but their track record is not very good - although all this time until recently most people have been giving them the benefit of the doubt - what shows it succinctly is that Apple ad "Promises" - PC guy is saying their OS will not have any problems the preceding version had. "Trust me."

OT:
Kind of like American cars up about the late 80's. I would say quality improved greatly in the 90's - before, except for individual exceptions, getting over 100k miles without major repair was fairly impossible. But still Japanese cars are still ahead (but's lets grouse about Toyota's acceleration problem as we do with Apple, eh?).

Bright shiny new car, how could anything be wrong, but like MS (More of the Same) they've worked hard earned these acronyms:

AMC Always Made Crap,
FORD Found On the Road Dead,
CHEVROLET Can Hear Every Valve Rattle Oil Leaks Every Time,
CHRYSLER Company Has Recommended You Start Learning Engine Repair,
DODGE Drips Oil Drops Grease Everywhere,
GMC God's Mechanical Curse
JEEP Just Expect Every Problem
