I don't buy that. I believe the health care industry can be completely private, operating within a strict regulatory structure that ensures competition and minimizes abuses. That statement is also consistent with things like mandating coverage. I'd prefer the government not mandate coverage, because I believe a truly free market will drive benefits higher and costs lower in such a way as more individuals and families will choose coverage. But if the country chooses a mandate, we can still work with that within a private industry structure.
