It is because it is all about power with the Republicans now. They used to put the country first, but that has been a long time.

Bentway, seems like "big tent" does wonders for building supermajorities, but it will bite you in the ass when you need to unify and push agendas.

That's why the Democrats need to portray Republicans as "extremists." It's the only way they can build any sort of party unity.
