There seems to be less of that sense of duty in North America True, but our societal safety net is much more sophisticated than those of most countries. Commie plot? Very few people understand their experience or their environment. Calling you guys commies is probably a reaction to the fact that most of us somehow understand that a family-based safety net for the aged is likely a lot more efficient and humane than an impersonal one run by governments.
