Obama Moves Forward on Debt Commission

NAMES SIMPSON, BOWLES CO-CHAIRS IN SPITE OF GOP PROTESTS

(NEWSER) – Ignoring GOP resistance, President Obama is moving ahead with plans for a commission to bring down the federal debt. Obama will tomorrow name Clinton White House vet Erskine Bowles and former Republican Senate Whip Alan Simpson to co-chair the panel, which will seek to knock the federal debt down from its current 10% of GDP to 3% by 2015, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Republicans say they haven't been consulted on the mandate or composition of the panel Obama will sign tomorrow. The commission is to review soaring government spending and the tax code, and the solutions it weighs could include middle-income tax hikes. House GOP leaders have said they won't take part without upfront spending-cut commitments. "Blue-ribbon commissions are fine and dandy, but we're still waiting for a response from the president on our proposal to start cutting spending right now," says a spokesman for John Boehner.

"Obama still can't produce his original Hawaiian birth certificate?"

I can't produce mine. I can get a copy, like Obama did. Can you produce yours?

The actual one issued when you were born? Mine vanished with my mother's possessions when she died. I remember seeing it - it had a little handprint and footprint on it - the copy didn't. I'd imagine the same is true for 10's of millions of Americans. You never need the thing, until you apply for a passport and a very few other contingencies.

Ted, > Palin never accused Obama of hanging out with terrorists or questioning his birthplace?

What's wrong with that? Bill Ayers isn't an admitted terrorist? Obama still can't produce his original Hawaiian birth certificate?

Yeah, right. Stop playing silly.

None of that compares with the attacks made against Palin and her family. Unless, for example, you can point me to a dirty joke that David Letterman made about Obama's daughters ...

Yes, Palin's attacks on Obama were much worse....after all she was a legitimate vice presidential candidate whereas Family Guy is a cartoon just like South Park which skewers liberals regularly. Winger skin to thin? Yes, I think so. Doth you all protest too much? Yes, I think so.
