Pete and all,
Shake out of the weak hands may be over. Let us wait for the strongest of the hands to be shaken out. This market is doing a denial after denial.
Yesterday ASMLF said their biz is slowing and they expect DRAM fabs to slow spending.
Today:
12:01 [KLAC] KLA-TENCOR SHARES DOWN 13/16, OR 1.7%, TO 46 1/4; VOLUME 1.4 MLN.
11:59 [KLAC] KLA-TENCOR SAYS ASIA SALES AMOUNT TO ABOUT 20% OF PRESSURE ON STOC
11:57 [KLAC] KLAC-TENCOR SEES GROSS MARGINS FALLING IF YEN WEAKENS FURTHER.
11:55 [KLAC] KLA-TENCOR DOESN'T EXPECT INROADS ON BACKLOG THIS QUARTER.
11:53 [KLAC] KLA-TENCOR REPORTS 6-MONTH PRODUCTION BACKLOG.
Don't know the full details, but the news is not good for the semiconductor equipment companies. Oh yeah, they said that Asean meltdown doesn't matter! I just shorted (not puts) a weaker player in the group - Lam Research. If the denial continues, I will short more at 40 and 45 and 50.
