Finally pried the last 2k out of my daughter to top off her Roth for 2009. Snail mailed so it will be a few days. Had NJR on the short list but you've driven it up on me. gg

She currently owns only six stocks, two of which are DEP and EPD, probably best to go in a totally opposite direction anyway.

With her only adding 8k so far I'm sure the conventional wisdom is that the money should be in a fund until it reaches at least 20 to 25k, but I never liked conventional wisdom that much.

Totally different, as I know you like to own a lot of stocks like I do. My plan is to have her at ten stocks by the time I get next years 5k invested, then add to each as we go along.

Owning only ten stocks just seems foreign to me.

Curious what your feelings are on the minimum number of stocks for someone who pays no attention to the market.
