Instead, Democrats and willing allies like Charlie Crist embarked on an era of failed stimulus spending that has seen unemployment rise, the government grow, a heavier debt burden placed on my children’s generation, and business uncertainty persist in the face of hostile big government policies. A year into the stimulus, it’s abundantly clear this policy has failed the American people. Even worse, I continue to be alarmed by the decisions being made in Washington and the current direction of our country. An agenda that began with a $787 billion expansion of government has continued to promote even more threatening policies like a government takeover of health care, cap-and-trade and punishing new taxes. A year ago, Charlie Crist had a chance to join Republicans in working towards market-based solutions that empower businesses and entrepreneurs to invest in their ideas and create jobs. Instead, he embraced and advocated a policy that has been a roadblock to job creation and threatened our country’s long term economic health. Floridians deserve leaders willing to go to Washington and offer a clear alternative to the current agenda being offered. Throughout my career and this campaign, I have proven I will be a voice for limited government principles. Charlie Crist’s embrace of the stimulus, cap-and-trade and higher taxes prove he would go from being Barack Obama’s favorite Republican governor to his favorite Republican senator. >>>corner.nationalreview.com
