Good post. I've posted something similar here recently. When you look at the charts, it becomes glaringly obvious that if we want to get control of the deficits, we are running out of choices. Now we're down to the following:
* increase taxes so dramatically that it will kill our economy
or
* increase taxes to 1990's levels and cut spending

The cut spending portion absolutely has to come from Medicare and Social Security. That's where most of the future deficits will come from. Get control of those two, raise taxes moderately, and we can balance the budget.
