Here's the plan form a union Coerce high pay and pensions keep pushing the host until it's BK. Then let the government pick up the pensions. Take over the company. That's just the private sector. In the case of public sector unions. When times are good keep piling on the pay and pensions. Job the system by working OT to jack up pensions. When times are bad, refuse rollbacks and expect the taxpayer to anti-up.
