Yes. Embedded DRAM and supposedly (at least according to T-Mobile Netherlands) that is 256 MB RAM in the iPhone 3GS which is 2x the amount in the iPhone 3G. That's pretty typical of snartphones running ARM Cortex A-8 processors although the Palm Pre uses 512 MB.

I see your second question has been answered. But you should also know that
Flash RAM is faster than hard drives now. Computers that use solid state drives, which are built using Flash RAM, are much faster at loading their operating systems and programs.
