Agreed. Btw, you should see the income tax system in New Zealand. Normally you don't even need to file. And if you do need to file, the damn thing fits on 1 page and is actually understandable by a human being.

That said, NZ taxes are high, as the spirit of the place is quasi-Nordic. But they're also simple and transparent, and the government is far more efficient than in the US. So at least one see's value for money.

The US tax system is simply appalling, and is symptomatic how we're falling behind the world in so many respects. It should be radically simplified. I'd tell them put it on 1-page. That exercise alone would eliminate so many faults.

And protectionism is not the cure.


So your answer is for Americans to give up their citizenship and move to India/China so we can "even out" the global living wage?
