If it was just $40k, he probably could have easily negotiated that down to a high single digit. Pretty stupid.

He was wrapped a little too tight. Now at the bottom, he had a legitimate grievance. The tax reform in 1986 made it extremely difficult to work as an independent engineer/programmer. Which is why most contract work is done through an agency or other 3rd party. I know this has affected me. And the Obama administration is making noises about tightening things even further. Which I think is a bad idea. It isn't going to raise money, this just isn't an area that is rife with tax cheats.

But burning down your house and slamming your private plane into buildings isn't the answer.
