Given that you usually rail against Stratfor missives, correctly in my opinion, I am surprised that you are now using them to bolster some argument that you are attempting to advance, typically critical of whatever the US does or does not do that fails to meet your expectations.

Regarding our departed, upset tax payer friend in Texas, I certainly don't agree with your quoted assertion:

"This poses a salient challenge to national security forces."

Of course it does not.

It underscores an ongoing challenge to domestic law enforcement, but to attempt to elevate this Tea Party extremist to some sort of existential threat is more of the same crap that has millions of folks taking off their shoes at airports for no good reason.

As long as we quake at the thought of a loose nut of any stripe taking extreme action, and then attempting to employ universal precautions against any and all crack pots, we will continue to weaken our economy and our country.

If we were able to reduce our area of concern to that of a large city, like your beloved and oh so well run Hong Kong, we could also dispense the Quixotic advice that brims over in your serial criticisms.

We of course don't have the luxury of being a pipsqueak entity on the world stage, so our issues are ummm....more complicated.

I do continue to wonder when we will harken to Franklins words that run sort of like ...a people who give up liberty for security deserve neither.....

we of freedom hong kong neither expect nor foresee tax revolt and its consequences in our midst, because our timid government is deliberately kept small and in awe of we the people

Sounds like it's working very well for you there and I'm happy for you... And I think HK will continue to prosper so long as it serves the purpose Bejing has set for it (Technology transfer.. access to capital).

But according to the stats I'm finding the gap between the rich and the poor is very high in HK. The Gini Co-efficient is 53.3, which is far higher than the mainland. That's something that is ignored at HK's peril.

So are you for Universal Suffrage in HK?

Btw.. what Stack did was domestic terrorism. He was using violence to make a political statement. That's always been the fundamental definition of terrorism.
