Cross-country skiing is one of if not the most intense cardio activity you can do. Shooting a silver dollar sized target at 50M when you are breathing as hard as possible and your heart rate is maxed out is one of the most challenging things you could do. Biathlon is close to the ultimate physical challenge which is what the Olympics should be about.
