No sympathy from me for attempting to take innocent life..

But I can understand his frustration.. The IRS code is far too complex.

I also have a lot of frustration with how aggressive the police are becoming in finding probable cause to pull people over to issue tickets.

Was driving the other night and saw this state trooper's light about a mile ahead of me, and he was just finishing a traffic stop. So his lights go out and he apparently pulls a "U'y" and starts heading towards me. So as we pass each other, his lights go on again and he flips another "U'y" and pulls me over. Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.. I had my vehicle's cruise control set to the speed limit and he had no probable cause that I could see.

But it seems that one of my headlights had gone out.. But the thing was, it was STILL DAYLIGHT (though close to dusk) I'm amazed because they had both been working fine the day before.. So I'm asking him if I can get out to check and he's telling me to stay in my vehicle.. "OK, I said"..

So here he's reviewing my license.. etc, etc, and I've got my hands up on my wheel trying to make him feel comfortable that I'm no threat. Then, in a very stern voice he's asking me where I'm going to.. I told him a neighboring town.. Then's he's asking me if I'm coming from work.. I said.. "No.. I'm coming from home".. Then he's asking me what town I'm from.. It was quite an interrogation.. (probably testing to see if I'd been drinking). It was quite the 3rd degree and quite out of step with any previous stop I've endured (and I haven't had a ticket in 15 years).

Anyway.. turns out it was just a loose connection (a good thump fixed the problem), but this trooper merely acknowledged it, returned my license, and sent me on my way.. I got the distinct sense that he was disappointed that he couldn't get anything on me worth generating a traffic citation.

I mean, I know times are hard and they're probably being told to get aggressive and find more DUIs (a lot of money in DUIs for the state), but I expected him to be a bit more friendly, if not understanding..

IF they keep this up, I can see folks making some phone calls and complaining about this aggressive enforcement, bordering on harassment.

Hawk

You really do walk both sides don't you?

All I did was suggest that he had something to say.

Your crap gets old...

Ignore.
