I figured *someone* would cut 'n paste that one....-g-. Mohan, what
do you know now about LRCX that you didn't a few weeks ago when
it was much higher? I really think there is a very good chance the
equipment makers will bounce high if enough of them keep saying
business looks good over the next year. Often these companies just
don't see it coming until it hits them over the head (just look at LRCX
statements
in the winter of 95-96, alhough they have a different CEO now). So,
even if you think 98 will be bad, you may have another shot at
shorting at a high price. These stocks like to do suckers rallies
lasting a few weeks, if given an excuse. Much depends on AMAT's conf call. Also you might want to consider whether Asian countries
are going to need to devalue more, or whether they've done enough
and the path from here is toward a weaker dollar. I don't have the
answer as to when... but at some point, it happens.

The real p*sser about MU is that X would not let me short more at
59!!! -g-
