Everyone thinks Li-ion is expensive, but people are paying it, so the price won't come down (much) over the next couple of years. Especially in the notebook & cell phone market, demand is overwhelming, and the largest-name notebook makers have already gone to 100% Li-ion in an attempt to get the price down through volume pricing. Digital cell phones in Europe & Asia are vast majority Li-ion prismatic, it's just USA analog phones and <$2500 notebooks that lag behind. Consumers have shown that they will pay the money for lithium-ion regardless of the small runtime improvement.
