"Android is no different than the iPhone. There are very many different software versions of iPhone out there still being used. And even the hardware has changed (digital compass, GPS, video etc...). Android is no different." Are you being serious? iPhone hardware and software development tools come from only one company, Apple, while Android will most likely have extensions, add-ons etc from many vendors. Android will face the many incompatibilities inherent with being flavored by too many hardware vendors. There's more at play here than just versioning that a developer will need to contend with.
