The answer to that life expectancy is not primarily determined by the health insurance system. Its not like the set up of the health care insurance system is irrelevant to life expectancy, it does have an effect, but the correlation is hardly overwhelming, and there is no evidence that is a very important cause of the difference in life expectancies.

If there is no correlation between the cost of our health care and longevity, then why do we pay so much......after all, the US is way out of the ballpark.

But there is an underlying issue that you did not address.......one of the reasons why longevity is not an American strong suit inspite of the exorbitant cost of American health care is because a sizable portion of the population is getting no health care at all. Its America's dirty little secret.
