" I don't know what your point of attachment is to public union contracts, but it seems emotional."

Nope. I've been on union executive and management - the latter more than the former - and I don't agree with kowtowing to unions, even as I recognize their legitimacy.

The problem is that anti-union voices predominate here, and so far, I've seen no posts from anyone knowledgeable concerning global or local facts about organized labor.

So your implied inferences are incorrect.

"For myself, I wouldn't be threatened with a public employee strike. I could make a cash deal with striking firemen or sheriff's deputies that would get them here in less time than their bureaucracy takes -- and I don't need the administrative part of local government at all. I don't mind paying for the local schools. I'd like to see government administration grind to a halt because it is counter-productive to job growth and expensive to me."

Good for you. How does that help everyone else?

Jim

Trig, I'm not a party to these proceedings. I'm certainly not on a rampage. You might consider whether you are projecting your own rampage. I'm just a citizen and taxpayer and OBSERVER. I don't know what your point of attachment is to public union contracts, but it seems emotional.

Exactly

And he accuses me of being emotional.

Perhaps I am. On purpose.
I, Jack dean, and a few others are trying to change public perception. Yes, I am doing this on purpose. Yes, I have an agenda on this issue.

Cities and states are going bankrupt and Trig, and other ignore it.

Trig has his head in the sand, defending what should easily be seen by any thinking adult as undefendable.
