we will never be that bucolic, rural, agrarian nation of the 18th century ever again. So please.......get your butts into the 21st century

Clearly you never really listen - the point is our government spends like it has a budget from the 22nd century.

The US became a great nation without an income tax and when it was begun it was sold as something that would only affect a handful of very rich people .... thats the lie thats told when they want to ensnare people. When withholding of income taxes was started it was a temporary wartime measure. It was a mile-marker on the road toward slavery. Think about it .... its not that you just pay your taxes, the government makes your employer take it out of your pay before you ever lay a hand on it. What is your marginal tax rate? That's the extent to which you're a servant of the government. From the time humans began civilized societies, the mass of humanity have been slaves or serfs with their wealth, freedom and very lives dependent on the goodwill or favor of a tyrant. Throwing off monarchy and warlordism and replacing it with constitutional rule which protected individual rights was a great achievement thats ever in danger of disappearing.

There is no need to be bucolic, rural, agrarian, or low population in order to have a small government, esp. if your defining small government in relation to the size of the countries economy or population, or some other measure that grows with the country.

Yes, you don't want the gov't to grow helter skelter

That's what it has been doing.
