No I don't think he missed it Dan.. Look at folks voting the party line without understanding what's going on.. Republican for life, Democrat for life, or here Liberal, NDP, Conservative , although we seem to flip better than you guys and have actually destroyed a few parties in my lifetime that didn't tow the line... Note in his Starship Troopers tale you had to earn your vote.. You didn't inherit it.

but democracy can reduce the excess I disagree.. It causes huge excesses as votes are bought with our money.. and it seems to reduce things to their lowest common denominator.. crushing good ideas which are truly for the public good along the way.. Sadly the comment made earlier on lack of philosopher kings is correct..

Or at least that is how it appears to me since I've been voting...
