When you say"private sector" does that exclude banking and finance? Any abuse by public unions is small potatoes compared to the monstrous ripoffs on Wall Street and the financial industry. These people are driven by an almost inhuman greed, while most public workers just want a make a decent living for themselves and their families.

When and if the fat cats are brought down a few pegs, then perhaps we can complain about overly high salaries for SOME public workers.

"...public unions are doing such a good job of cooperating w/us taxpayers..."

or, one might say, the market fundamentalist design has destroyed taxpayers, mostly public servants and corporate elite remain. to extend to naomi klein's left, questions about intent--disaster capitalism--are being formed. oh how convenient it would be to kill unions because the super rich have sucked-out middle class employment opportunities and income.

there's a bit of a battle between economists on left and right. though galbraith frames this as nonright vs. nonright, that conservative economic theory has failed.

i'm just looking for a good scandinavian bar. -g-
